Right now it's a Roleplaying game based around a server. It's called a PbP Play by Post, and it's similar to games like D&D, Pathfinder, etc. It's kind of gotten decently big and it's taking up a lot of my time but everyone's having fun!
One of my largest forums pretty much got cursed lol. The reason it died was essentially from that. I had a celebrity work as a Moderator and when she became mod it went to her head. I then demoted her, and DMed her explaining why (Had to warn her multiple times for not using her position to get...
I've had 2 thus far blow up, and I'm wondering what others do/did when their stuff randomly blows up with activity. My one site gained several thousand members in the first week of opening and topped off at just under 40k before I finally ended the site. Now, I'm working on a Play by Post RPG...
I've done that with one of my more professional websites as well. I used the images from my game to develop a custom skin that's really close to the xenforo base.

Now that you mention it I don't think I have had many issues either. Excluding super old browsers but that's on their end at that point lol. If you're using AOL Browser that predates Internet Explorer it's not my issue :ROFLMAO:
Yeah, I'd recommend getting ranked first on google with some keywords that has decent traffic (1k - 10k) with low competition. That way you'll be able to get more people through google than anything. Nothing gains members faster than googling something and finding a place.
I'll get discouraged, especially after my main website I shut down had almost 40k members. However, I won't up and shut down a website without a cause or reason behind it. SEO takes time, and I'm willing to spend that money and time to ensure a successful forum/website.
The overall look and feel of a forum is a huge factor for me. As well as staff interaction and how they handle themselves. I was on one webmaster forum where one of the staff had extreme views, and if you sided differently with him he would call you names and belittle you because of it. He would...
