Depends on the issue and browser, I tend to test most things before hand. Though if someone says they are having issues on IE, I tell them to use Edge of hit the road :P
It has to be releated/tied to your forum's theme, so since you are after pokemon, something like pokeball or a popular pokemon name is what you want to use.
Back about 7-8 years ago affiliates were a HUGE thing in forums, nearly every site you went to had some kind of mini affiliate banner scrolling or posted somewhere. These days, the affiliate thing seems to have died down, unless there is money to be made.
my site has always been diverse in its activity, can't get everyone there at once. So I make a speical forum section to talk about all the latest E3 things. In June my forum can see anywhere from double to triple the average posting count.
If there aren't other pokemon sites on Guilded, then that could be your best chance. Still got to think what your site can offer over other established ones.
If you have been a member for a long time or have a good resume on being a mod, I'll promote the person if there is a spot open and they want it. Mods I don't have too much issue, its handing someone admin powers that makes me hesitant.
I'm also relaxed in my moderation, obviously if someone is out right breaking rules I'll bring the hammer down quickly, but no reason for everyone not to be cool/chill and enjoy themselves.
