Not having much user members is very much dissatisfying. No Admin will spend time and resources to develop a particular forum without much turn up of user members.

That's why promotion/advertisements is ideal, in order to drag the attention of people into your forum.

How do you feel when member base is extremely low after months of launching your forum and doing the needful?

Will you shut down or hope that some day the userbase will improve?

I'll get discouraged, especially after my main website I shut down had almost 40k members. However, I won't up and shut down a website without a cause or reason behind it. SEO takes time, and I'm willing to spend that money and time to ensure a successful forum/website.

I still stick by an old saying, everyone else will close down, my site will stay open.

Stick with your words and never let it down. Everything that goes up must surely come around. Your time will come and your forum will receive the spotlight and attract higher SEO ranking.

That's tremendous achievement that you're still going string for 14 years running. That happened cos of the bold step you took, and your endurance spirit.

Nah, you will likely not achieve a great success in the first couple of months anyway. It's all about commitment & long term investments.
Sure, it's about hard work and consistency towards the development of his or her site until success comes.
